CANCELLATION POLICY OR CHANGES TO THE SERVICE
At Proyecto Charcos we will go out of our way to ensure that you have the best possible experience on board the charter boats in our fleet. Unfortunately sometimes circumstances overrule our wishes, which from time to time forces us to cancel some of the day trips or charter weeks that have been previously booked.
On this page you will find our cancellation policy for all the different reasons we can foresee:
1. Bad weather cancellation policy.
Before we get into the matter, we must explain that weather is not an exact science, especially in spring or late summer, so we cannot make a final decision until 24 hours before the start of the excursion. In the event that the weather conditions are adverse and prevent the contracted excursion from taking place on one of our boats, we will act in the following way:
-
We will look for an alternative date: The most logical option would be to try to find an alternative date. In the event that we are unable to offer an alternative date or clients are unable to adapt their schedule to the new date, we will offer an alternative itinerary for the same day. Even within the same day we will try to adapt the departure and arrival time to avoid possible bad weather as far as we can. For example, if the forecast is for continuous rain from 18:00 onwards and we have booked a full day excursion from 12:00 to 20:00 then we will change to a new timetable from 10:00 to 18:00. The change of date or time does not imply any reduction in the rate or conditions of the contract unless the time period of the excursion is reduced. In this case, the new rate corresponding to the new duration of the excursion will be applied. Under no circumstances may a decision be made to shorten the tour on the spot, once the tour has started, which would mean a reduction in the price.
-
Alternative itinerary: Sometimes it happens that the weather conditions are adverse for sailing only in a specific area of the island. The boat trip will then take place on a different itinerary to the one originally planned, with no possibility for clients to choose the itinerary where the conditions are adverse. In the event that customers decline this new itinerary offered due to weather conditions, they would not be entitled to recover the amounts advanced to make the booking.
-
Refund of the total amount paid in advance: In the event that weather conditions prevent the excursion from taking place and we cannot find an alternative date, nor can we offer a comfortable and safe alternative route, the total amount paid in advance will be refunded. The refund will be made by bank transfer to the account indicated by the client.
-
What are adverse weather conditions? Adverse weather conditions are those that either prevent the boat from leaving the port or prevent the excursion from being carried out with full guarantees of safety and comfort for our clients. What we want is for you to have an unforgettable day on board, but unforgettable "for good", not "for bad". Examples of adverse weather conditions: Forecast of strong waves, with wave heights of more than 1.5 metres in the area where the boat trip will take place. Strong wind forecast with speeds in excess of 25 knots. Heavy rain forecast for a period of time exceeding 20% of the total duration of the excursion. Examples of weather conditions that are NOT adverse to sailing: There is a forecast of cloudy or partly sunny weather. There is a chance of light rain for less than 20% of the total excursion duration. We are cold because we have not read the instructions and have not brought warm clothes.
-
Above all, we will apply common sense: At Proyecto Charcos, we want you to have an amazing time. Under no circumstances will we force the excursion to take place on a day when our clients are not going to enjoy our boats and our islands to the maximum, showing the greatest possible flexibility in terms of itineraries, timetables and pick-up points.
